About Us > Access

Half Moon aims to be an inclusive theatre organisation. As such we provide opportunities accessible to all.

Youth Theatres
To enable those young people with a disability, or sensory impairment, or those who require extra support, to join one of the youth theatre groups, we operate an inclusive policy. This means that we employ an extra member of staff provide ongoing support for them to feel empowered and be an active part of the group.

Additionally Half Moon runs a youth theatre group exclusively for teenagers with disabilities and sensory impairments. Solar Youth Theatre meets on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm - 8.30pm and its members are supported by access workers and communicators as appropriate. We fund transport for members who live in Tower Hamlets if necessary. We use technical resources to create exciting and accessible projects.

Tower Hamlets Summer University
Each year Half Moon is an operational partner for Tower Hamlets Summer University, running week long courses with young people with disabilities and sensory impairments.

Work in Schools
Half Moon works in partnership with schools delivering specialist workshops and residencies in Special Schools. We deliver projects in partnership with schools, or specialist units within mainstream schools which meet and complement each individual school's aims.

Professional Theatre at Half Moon and other venues
We always aim to keep our productions as accessible as possible and present productions each year featuring fully integrated British Sign Language (BSL) or sign supported English as well as BSL interpreted performances. We also offer Touch Tours prior to each performance for blind and visually impaired audience members.

If you would like further information about our work with young people with disabilities call us on 020 7265 8138, text us on 020 7709 8907 or use our enquiry form
