Tower Hamlets Futureversity (formerly Summer University 2005 -2011)
Half Moon's highly successful project for disabled teenagers took place in August 2010. This year's group worked with a puppeteer to create some incredible giant puppets and explore shadow puppetry all within the broad theme of carnival.
This project focused, as in previous years, on devising an original piece of theatre in 5 days with the young people's voices central to the process. On the final day participants perform their piece to an invited audience of friends and family.
Participants were involved in all aspects of the development process and worked intensively over the course of their week with specialist tutors who have experience of enhancing work for young people with disabilities (both physical and/or sensory). The project aimed to give young disabled people direct experience of devising, creating and performing.
Summer University took has been happening each year since 2005. In previous years participants have worked with movement specialists, musicians, professional writers and in 2005 were joined by Epic Arts.

Play in a Day - April 2007
Building on the success of last year's project, Half Moon was thrilled to be involved in a one-off Play in a Day session in connection with the Tower Hamlets Foster Carer's Association. Held in April 2007, over 25 young people from across the borough who had experience of foster care were invited to take part in the project.
The day consisted of working within two age-specific groups to create, workshop, and perform a piece of theatre that focused on the theme "Superheroes". Supported by the technical resources of the theatre, the day concluded with sharings by the young people to their parents and carers. The success of this project was highlighted by the co-operation and team work that was evident amongst the young people throughout the day.
Half Moon would also like to congratulate the Foster Carers' Association Chair, Jonathan Ticher, on the special achievement award recently given to him by Tower Hamlets Council for his overall contribution to local fostering.
