Half Moon is committed to providing quality work experience opportunities in order to help those interested in a career in the arts gain some experience and understand the industry or a role more clearly. As a small organisation we are unable to host more than one placement at a time and do limit who we consider for a placement at Half Moon. Please ensure you fit one of the categories listed below before contacting us regarding work experience.
Secondary School/College Students
Half Moon is only able to host work experience for young people from Secondary Schools and Colleges in Tower Hamlets on one week work experience placements through Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership or for young people who attend one of our Youth Theatres. We also offer work experience placements to students who have attended our Careers in Theatre Programme.
We also offer two-hour a week for one term volunteering roles to students working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Contact us for more information.
Read about the many varied roles students take on during a week’s work experience at Half Moon. You can also find out about what it’s like to volunteer at Half Moon by visiting our Youth Theatre feedback page.
Higher Education Students
Half Moon has occasional placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students from relevant courses (such as applied theatre, community theatre etc). We have long-standing relationships with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford College, University of East London, Queen Mary University of London and Goldsmiths University of London. We are also developing relationships with London South Bank University and the Institute of Education. We currently prioritise placement students from these institutions and it is very unlikely that we will accept requests for placements from students studying at other institutions.
If you fit into either of the categories above and wish to be considered for a placement, please contact us.
Apprenticeships at Half Moon
We worked in partnership with the Mayor of Tower Hamlets to deliver a Creative Apprenticeship Programme in the academic year of 2013-2014. We had an Apprentice with us from September 2013 until December 2014 who did a Level 2 qualification at Tower Hamlets College alongside her work here at Half Moon. The Apprenticeship was: Supporting Cultural Venue Operations and paid London Living Wage.
We are committed to partnering with other Apprenticeship providers to ensure we offer an all-round experience to Apprentices in the sector. This includes opportunities for professional networking and continuing development. If you are hosting an Apprentice and are keen to link up, please contact us.
