An exciting start to Autumn
The season began last weekend with two sold-out performances and continues this Saturday, 28 September, with The Chronicles of Atom and Luna. If you love adventure stories and fantasy fiction – like Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett and JRR Tolkien – you’ll love this family show packed full of poetry, puppetry, imagination and fun.
Last year, 600 young people and adults came to our Fun Palaces Free Family Fun Day of activities including craft, storytelling and music and movement workshops. How many people will we welcome this year on Saturday 5 October? Hopefully, you’ll be there!
Based on the extraordinary – and unbelievable – true story of an adopted tiger cub, A Tiger’s Tale (12 Oct) is a high-spirited balancing act of circus, puppetry, live music and song for ages 4+ and is not to be missed.
We welcome back the Groove Baby Trio with their cosmic musical experience Groove onto the Moon on Saturday 19 October (ages 3-7). Take a jazz and funk-fuelled adventure into space where you’ll encounter a host of alien characters, embark on daring missions and face challenges that will put your bravery to the test.
Award-winning children’s author Oliver Sykes returns with fearless fishing action, surprising plot twists, compelling characters and an inspiring girl-hero. Fishing for Rainbows (26 October) is a funny and heart-warming show that will reel the whole family in for an unforgettable adventure.
We’re also looking forward to co-producing new baby show Soft or Spiky? (29-31 Oct), with Polka Theatre – an exciting collaboration by two of the UK’s leading children’s venues and touring companies. This playful and interactive new show is full of shapes, sounds, textures and words, exploring different ways to connect and understand each other. Inspired by heartfelt conversations with new parents, this humorous production explores the multiple ways we communicate, ensuring that no one is left out.
It’s an exciting start to autumn and I haven’t even mentioned ten shows! We look forward to welcoming local families into our building, many for the first time, to start them on their creative journeys.
