Half Moon awarded six OnComm Commendations

We’re delighted to announce that six productions by Half Moon Theatre have been awarded an OnComm Commendation. Congratulations to everyone involved.

The OnComm is the Offies Commendation for online shows, which aims to recognise the excellence of shows from independent, alternative and fringe theatres that are being presented online. This award was introduced in May 2020 in the light of the lockdown arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Half Moon productions awarded the OnComm Commendation are:

• Guantanamo Boy, a Brolly production by Half Moon Presents
• her, a Brolly and Half Moon co-production
• The House That Jackson Built, a Justin Coe production by Half Moon Presents
• Off the Grid, a Half Moon production
• Paper Aeroplane, a Lots of Odds production by Half Moon Presents, repeat screenings from Saturday 30 January
• What Once Was Ours, a Zest Theatre and Half Moon co-production, repeat screenings from Saturday 23 January

The six awards are a fantastic recognition of our Half Moon Live season, which offered families access to a selection of recent productions for young people to stream online for free during the first lockdown, and our current season of brand new productions, live-recorded at Half Moon Theatre and professionally filmed and edited to watch online from the comfort of your own home.

In the light of the success of the OnComm since it was launched in mid 2020 (there have been 350+ submissions and 120+ awards), it has been decided to group the shows into a number of categories and then select finalists and winners within each category. All of Half Moon’s productions are in the Young People’s Theatre (YPT) category.

OnComm finalists will be announced in the week beginning 11 January, with winners announced at the virtual Offies awards event in late February 2021.
