Sharings – Spring 2018

half moon full RGB GREEN 300x300

Our Youth Theatres brought the spring 2018 term to a close with some wonderful sharings in front of family and friends. Check out the photos below along with links to watch the performances online.

Comets – Story Worlds

This term Comets have been having a go at creating stories of their own. We have been learning how we can use different stimuli to create drama; through object play with different props, developing characters through games and Through group story telling. For our final show, Comets were given just a picture, from which they had to create their own story and direct others in how they wanted it to be acted out. Practicing our drama skills of devising, directing and editing has been a lot of fun, and resulted in some truly imaginative stories!

Congratulations to Sakura and Kiran for winning Recognition Awards.

Eclipse – The World of WHAT IF…

This term Eclipse have explored and asked the question WHAT IF? They have used this intriguing question to imagine and inspire curiosity in the world we live in. What if there were no rules? What if money did grow on trees?

The young people have explored different techniques including rhythm, chanting, movement and mime. This sharing is a chance for the young  people to showcase the different techniques they have been using to improve their skills as performers.

Congratulations to Miles and Maria for winning Recognition Awards.

Equinox – Observe our Process

Tonight we’re offering something a bit different; a chance to observe Equinox during their creative process. Excitingly, we are beginning our research into ‘Playful Heritage’, a youth theatre wide project that is exploring growing up in the East End in the 50s, 60s and 70s, culminating in a big festival of performances at the end of the Summer Term. Over the past few weeks, Equinox members have been bringing in their own stimuli on this topic, which we have been exploring through different devising techniques each week. This evening, we are inviting you to watch our relaxed sharing, as we demonstrate some of the ways we create work from scratch; using different stimuli, working in groups, with a time limit!

Congratulations to Liliana and Maelyn for winning Recognition Awards.

Lunar – The WHAT IF…March

A group of young people are on a protest march, bored, debating the same old problems. How about we talk about the things we are  interested in instead? Life is too serious. Time to take a light hearted look at the world and ask WHAT IF robots took over? Or WHAT IF kids ruled the world? A serious march which turns playful.

This term Lunar have asked the question WHAT IF? They have used this intriguing question to wonder and imagine, inspiring curiosity in the world we live in. This sharing is a chance for the young people to showcase some of the activities they have been doing this term in order to improve their skills as performers. One part of the sharing, ‘This is not a…’ (which is an object based improvisation activity) will be completely improvised to showcase the young people’s skill. Watch out anything could happen!

Congratulations to Maya for winning the Jack Petchey Award. Also huge cheers for Maria, who won the Recognition Award.

Solar – Mystery Cafe

This term Solar has been thinking all about community. What makes us the same? What makes us different? We are collecting ideas for our show next term and we’d like to make you part of that process. We invite you to join us in the Mystery Cafe to answer a question or two, and to bring a smile with you, as you always do!

Congratulations to Younes for winning the Jack Petchey Award. Also huge cheers for Ruby, who won the Recognition Award.
