We’ve got some very exciting news for you about next week. Many of you will be familiar with the Mr Gum series of books and also Big Red Bath, so you’ll be very pleased to hear that we have two book signings next week – and you’re invited!
On Thu 19 Sept Mr Gum illustrator David Tazzyman visits Half Moon to launch our new gallery exhibition Every Picture Tells a Story and on Fri 20 Sept Big Red Bath author Julia Jarman visits to sign copies of the book.
And we’d love you to come along to both of them!
A vibrant mix of exciting book illustrations using different media including dip-pen and ink, water-colour and gouche comes to Half Moon this Autumn.
Every Picture Tells a Story features the work of leading children’s book illustrator, David Tazzyman – the man behind the grotesque Mr Gum as well as Agatha Parrot, Eleanor’s Eyebrows, The Donut Diaries.
His work will be complemented by pieces from three of the UK’s up and coming illustrators – Siân Pattenden “lovable, rascally characters”; Lucy Freegard “capturing a vibrant sense of movement” and Tom McLaughlin “sparkling magic and mayhem”. Come and enjoy rogues and villains, unexpected heroes and some rather cute animals.
David Tazzyman will be available to sign books and prints from 5pm – 6pm and artists Siân Pattenden and Lucy Freegard will be in attendance for the duration. A pop-up bookshop run by our friends at Victoria Park Books will be selling books by the artists and all of the art featured will be available to purchase.
The exhibition at Half Moon will run from 19 Sept 2013 – 7 Jan 2014, during the theatre opening hours Mon – Fri, 10am – 6pm and Saturdays 10am – 4pm (theatre show days only).
We currently have tickets for one performance of Big Red Bath, the 10.30am performance on Friday. After this performance the author of the book, Julia Jarman will be signing copies of Big Red Bath which will be available to buy.
If you would like to meet Julia, get her to sign your book and/or buy a copy just stay around after the show. Or if you don’t have tickets for the show but would still like to come to the book signing, come to the theatre for 11.15am.
