Children’s Art Week: 16-22 June

We are delighted to be part of the 2014 Children’s Art Week by offering free visits and workshops at our Gallery @ Half Moon. Join us to complete a trail of the current exhibition, do your own artwork with artist John Mayson or leave us a picture or message on our chalk boards in response to the artwork on the walls.

Gallery @ Half Moon is an exciting new space in Tower Hamlets for local artists to display their work, all of which is family-friendly.

Woodpecker Mask - John Mayson

The current exhibition, RITUAL, is a colourfully vivid series of self-portrait photographs from East London-based artist John Mayson, which explore the rituals of disguise, play, performance and identity through the craft of mask-making. John is an art education specialist and full-time Artist in Residence at Manorfield Primary School.

During Children’s Art Week, school groups and the public can visit the gallery during a series of time slots each day (Monday-Friday 9.45-10.45, 11-12, 1.30-2.30pm and 4.30-5.30). John Mayson will deliver a schools’ workshop on Thursday 19th June 1.30-2.30pm and a public workshop 4.30-5.30pm.

School groups should contact Beccy Allen (Creative Learning Producer) on  020 7709 8908 to book their time slots
