Please find below details of the Spring term sessions of the 2020/21 CPD Programme which have now passed. Please contact us to access recordings of some of the sessions or if you would like to attend these sessions in the future if we were able to run them again.

CPD 1. Drama for Communication and Inclusion
When: Half day, 9.30-11.30am (on Zoom)
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course works with school staff on drama techniques to encourage participation and communication in all its forms in the children with whom we work. Participants will be empowered to use drama activities to develop children’s expressive and non-verbal communication as well as receptive and attending skills.

 

CPD 2. Drama for Recovery and Cohesion
When: Half day, 1.30-3.30pm (on Zoom)
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course helps school staff develop the use of drama as a tool to improve classroom communication and cohesion, bringing children back together through practical and creative teaching practices. This will include the use of drama to manage challenging behaviour.

 

CPD 3. Drama for a Creative Curriculum
When: Half day, 9.30am-11.30am (on Zoom)
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course explores active drama strategies to develop and enhance children’s learning in the classroom, with a focus on teaching core subjects. Exercises are designed to provide teachers with drama exercises to deepen the children’s understanding by bringing English, Science, Maths, and PHSE to life.

 

CPD: Drama for PSHE
When: Half day, 9.30am-12noon (on Zoom)
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course offers drama and creative activities for exploring a number of PSHE themes with classes, including transitions, staying safe online, dealing with bullying and building friendships. The session will equip staff with practical exercises to engage children in discussions around decision-making, communication and confidence. The course is open to all staff but may be best suited for those who work with KS2.

 

CPD: Mindfulness for Recovery and Resilience
When: Half day, 10am-12.30pm (on Zoom)
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2

This course explores active drama and mindfulness activities to support children’s recovery and resilience as they navigate all the things happening in the world around them. The session is led by Tangled Feet, a Half Moon partner company, who have developed a specialist programme for primary schools that teaches techniques for children (and their teachers) to manage stress and develop confidence and communication.

Drama and History
When: Full day, 9.15am-3.15pm
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course explores active drama strategies to develop and enhance children’s learning in the classroom, with a focus on teaching history (chronological narrative, ancient civilisations, empires, continuity and change, cause and consequence, creating historical accounts and interpreting the past).

Sensory Learning for Early Years
When: Full day, 9.15am-3.15pm
Who: All subject staff – EY/FS
This course explores methods of creating sensory and immersive approaches to learning for early years that stimulates the imaginations of all learners. Participants will leave feeling confident to turn any topic, theme or story into innovative, inclusive and creative actions that link directly back to their classroom environment.

Drama as a Tool for Classroom Practice
When: Full day, 9.15am-3.15pm
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course aims to develop the use of drama as a tool to improve classroom communication and cohesion. Participating staff will be encouraged to engage with reflective practice and explore new ways of making their teaching practical and creative. This will include the use of drama to manage challenging behaviour and develop confidence and voice.

Movement and Messy Play for Early Years
When: Full day, 9.15am-3.15pm
Who: All subject staff – EY/FS
This course gives staff the tools to provide sessions which use movement, physical expression and dance together with messy and creative play to enable children to explore their bodies and their imaginations.

Drama and Science
When: Full day, 9.15am-3.15pm
Who: All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course explores active drama strategies to develop and enhance children’s learning in the classroom, with a focus on teaching science (forces, heat and light, sound, electricity, materials, plants and animals and the environment). Includes an opportunity for curriculum planning.

Drama for PSHE: Staying Safe Online
When: 
Full day, 9.15am-3.15pm
Who:
All subject staff – Primary KS1/KS2
This course offers drama and creative activities for teaching children about how they can stay safe online, using practical exercises and discussions around the themes of communication, trust, and fact vs opinion. The course will also help participating staff to think about how they might work with parents to further encourage staying safe online.
