There will be a series of FREE events for young people to accompany the two Saturday performances of Map of Me on 17 October, exploring some of the issues relating to being an unaccompanied minor arriving in the UK.
Part of the Tower Hamlets Black History Month celebrations, the events will explore issues around young refugees, working with Tower Hamlets New Residents and Refugee Forum, Counterpoints Arts, playwright and director Filiz Ozcan and spoken word artist Concise One. There will also be an extract from acclaimed film Leave to Remain.

All workshop and discussion events are free. All tickets to Map of Me cost £6.
Scriptwriting Workshop: 1.45pm – 2.45pm
This rapid-write workshop, led by playwright and director Filiz Ozcan, will take participants through a series of quick-fire writing exercises to create character relationships and imaginative theatrical worlds. Using the play as a starting point, this is a perfect opportunity to enhance students’ understanding of the craft of playwriting.

Panel Discussion: 4.15pm – 5.30pm
Unaccompanied minors arriving in the UK: exploring the facts, overturning stereotypes and understanding work with young refugees. To include an extract from the film Leave to Remain. Panel to include theatre professionals and experts on the situation of unaccompanied minors.
