Continuing Professional Development for School Staff

Half Moon, in partnership with Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES), offers an annual programme of Continuing Professional Development for all school staff (teachers, TAs, Learning Mentors) and educators. We also coordinate the Tower Hamlets Secondary Drama Forum and have started a new Tower Hamlets Primary Drama Forum.

We offer key sessions throughout the year, delivered by theatre and drama professionals and planned in partnership with Julia Williams, Drama teacher at George Green’s School in Tower Hamlets. We also create bespoke packages for schools keen to have sessions delivered in their settings for all their staff.

We scheduled two sessions for the Spring 2020 Term which support our Creative Recovery approach. To access a recording of the sessions, please get in touch. Details of the sessions can be found below. Sessions on offer in the Autumn  2021 Term will be detailed here soon.

Our sessions aim to: extend the quality and breadth of drama being used within the core curriculum, as distinct subject delivery and as a tool for cross-curricular work or effective classroom management; and address school development plans by providing specific training for teachers as identified in on-going appraisal within the performance review process.

Schools or educators interested in the delivery of sessions at their own setting for a number of staff, please contact us.

Feedback from teachers regarding our Classroom Cohesion focused CPDs include:

    • “The examples of how to use drama as a tool in a classroom have been very exciting and practical. It made me more confident to include activities like these and not to be afraid to do so because of behaviour, for example.”
    • “I came away with great exercises to add to my teacher toolkit that can be adapted for any age group.”
