Meet the Empathy and Resilience artists

Azan Ahmed lo res

We are incredibly excited to introduce the freelance artists involved in our Narratives of Empathy and Resilience project, a new artform development programme that engages a diverse range of freelance artists who will spend three months collaborating and creating theatre for young audiences.

Empathy and Resilience: Blog 2

We are working with a collective of 17 dynamic artists, from a range of disciplines, who are all eager to work together to create powerful stories that will resonate with young people of different ages.

Over the coming weeks we’re going to introduce the team.

Meet the artists (part 1)

Professional artist of Azan Ahmed Azan Ahmed
I’m Azan Ahmed and I’m an actor and poet. As an actor, I’ve worked with the National Theatre and the BBC. I’m currently part of Apples and Snakes Writing Room cohort and I was a finalist in the 2020 Roundhouse Poetry Slam. I’m really excited to lean in and collaborate with a musician and dramaturg to shape work which challenges and brings joy to young people!

My name is Rori Endersby, and I’m a queer theatre maker who enjoys being busy and making things. My background is in Stage Management and I can’t wait to expand my directing experience. I’m looking forward to working with other creative minds to bring our ideas into reality and give space to underrepresented voices.

I’m Farah Najib, an emerging writer and facilitator. I trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and I’ve been part of writers’ groups at the Royal Court Theatre and Soho Theatre. I’m driven by the potential that theatre has to be a powerful form of communication and change, and I’m passionate about daring, female-led stories. I’m really looking forward to bringing out my inner child during the programme and exploring the topics I wish I’d seen when I was young.

I often use self-made instruments, sound costumes, trumpet, electronics, field recordings, found objects and natural materials to create music and soundscapes. I run multi-disciplinary improvised events ‘crossspace’ which encourage audience participations. I am really excited to start the devising process at Half Moon and learn about methods of making work that connects and inspires young audiences.
