One year on
Two online productions by Half Moon Theatre have become Off West End OnComm Award finalists. Huge congratulations to everyone involved.
Paper Aeroplane, a Half Moon Presents and Lots of Odds show, is up for Best Show for Children. Repeat screenings of the production will take place from Saturday 30 January to Friday 5 February.
Guantanamo Boy, a Half Moon Presents and Brolly Production, adapted from the book by Anna Perera, is in the running for Best Show for Young People 12+.
The OnComm is the Offies Commendation for online shows, which aims to recognise the excellence of shows from independent, alternative and fringe theatres that are being presented online. This award was introduced in May 2020 in the light of the lockdown arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Four Half Moon productions were also given OnComm Commendations. These shows are: her, a Brolly and Half Moon co-production; The House That Jackson Built, a Justin Coe production by Half Moon Presents; Off the Grid, a Half Moon production; and What Once Was Ours, a Zest Theatre and Half Moon co-production.
Screenings of What Once Was Ours will take place from Saturday 23 to Friday 29 January.
The six awards are a fantastic recognition of our Half Moon Live season, which offered families access to a selection of recent productions for young people to stream online for free during the first lockdown, and our current season of brand new productions, live-recorded at Half Moon Theatre and professionally filmed and edited to watch online from the comfort of your own home.
OnComm winners will be announced in an online ceremony on Sunday 21 2021.
