Exchange for Change

Half Moon’s artform development and producing platform is delivered under the overarching programme Exchange for Change. The aim is to support artists developing new, diverse and challenging work for young audiences in a variety of ways and to encourage robust debate within the young people’s and wider theatre sectors.

Half Moon presents

This is the producing arm of Half Moon, where we support the promotion and development of contemporary theatre for young audiences at a national and international level. More details of our current portfolio can be found on the What’s on Tour page or the Venue Programming page. We are committed to producing high quality work and giving artists the support to make that possible. We offer a range of services including tour booking and management, producing, pre-production support, making ACE Grants for the Arts bids or similar applications to fund the development of work for future touring, dramaturgical support or artistic development mentoring. We can offer a complete package to artists and companies or tailor our support to specific requirements.

Resident @ Half Moon

Half Moon works with established artists and companies to showcase innovative work for young audiences, developing mutually enriching and long-term relationships.

Breathing Space

Half Moon works with mid-career artists from a range of artforms interested in working together to develop new work for scratch performance, pitches or work share.

Word Exchange

Half Moon works with writers from any discipline (including stage, poetry, spoken word and novelists) interested in developing work for young audiences exploring the changing landscape of contemporary society as it informs, challenges or is influenced by young people’s voices. By giving artists the support they need to make that possible, we aim to do the following:

  • explore and place language at the heart of their creativity
  • engage with the emotional maturity of our young audiences
  • work in direct contact and consultation with young people during a writing development period in an after-school or in-school project setting through our Creative Learning Programmes.

Half Moon would want the option to produce the plays that are developed as one of our annual national tours, but it is the process and the nurturing of writers that underpins our work.

This approach does mean that we are unable to accept unsolicited scripts.
