Sharings – Spring 2015

Our six Youth Theatres are in the final week of their spring term, which means it’s time to find out what they’ve been up to in a series of ‘sharings’ in front of family and friends. Couldn’t make it to the special event? Take a look at our galleries and join in the drama!

Comets / Sunbeam / Moonbeam / Eclipse / Lunar / Solar

YT-Mermaid-150

During the spring term Comets, Sunbeam and Moonbeam have been using the story of a mermaid as the stimulus for their show. They explored different sea creatures and underwater games in their weekly session and then put them together to share in A Mermaid’s Tail.

YT-Malfunction

Eclipse started with a photograph of a colourful landscape and then improvised ideas around the image. Their sharing is the story of a group of astronauts who embark on a journey. Suddenly there is a malfunction aboard the spaceship and they land in a place where everything is slightly unusual… Their sharing is called Malfunction.

stagecombatthumbnail-300Lunar stated with a piece of text from David Lane’s FREE, which was performed at Half Moon and on national tour in the autumn of 2014. Members of the group explored ideas around this stimulus and created work around the Cycle of Life. They worked with a Stage Combat specialist in two workshop sessions and she helped to shape the transitions between the scenes. Their sharing is called The Ground and the Sky.

YT-Sharing-SolarSolar decided to celebrate the end of term with a party for family and friends.

The groups have worked hard on their creative skills and all the ideas and lines in the shows came from the young people.
