Half Moon set for Summer Renovation

Following the Arts Council England capital grant award of £660,479 towards urgent repair and renovation of the exterior of our beautiful Victorian building, Half Moon will be closing to the public over the summer for building works to take place.

Over the course of several months builders will work to repair and refurbish parts of the roof, guttering and external walls. All the exterior decorations, such as the cornices over the main door, will be restored to their former glory.

In addition, the grounds of the theatre will be altered. A new gate which will increase security is to be added along with a new lift. This lift will improve access to the theatre space for disabled audience members and visiting theatre companies who have sets and equipment to install.

The exterior renovation is the second phase in Half Moon’s Capital project which began in earnest in 2008 after the purchase of the Half Moon building. Last summer the interior spaces were altered. The building will re-open to the public in September.
