An exhibition of screen prints by Justine Ellis and Tiff Howick
10 January to 18 April 2019
Tiff Howick is an illustrator and printmaker. By combining influences from her Norwegian heritage and memories of childhood picture books, she has developed a style that takes inspiration from fashion illustration and picks up on our tendency to see human emotions in animals.
Tiff really enjoys the process of screen printing and how this enables her to create handmade copies of her illustrations so that each one, with its subtle differences, is effectively an original piece of affordable art.
When she is not creating her own beautiful artworks you will find Tiff at Venner, a shop she runs with fellow maker Lucie Beeston, in Leyton.
Justine Ellis is a printmaker who specialises in original, hand screen printed art and homewares. She is currently Screen Printing Fellow at the Royal Academy of Art in London.
Justine is inspired by mid century art, architecture, textiles and ceramics. Each print or pattern she creates begins life as a drawing or paper cut collage before being transferred into print. She has recently been working with an upholsterer to bring some of her lovely fabric designs to life on mid century furniture pieces.
When she is not armed with a squeegee, she can be found teaching adults to screen print and designing and facilitating screen printing workshops for people of all ages.
