THAT – Half
by the Tower Hamlets Artist Teacher Network
26 April – 7 July 2017
THAT – Half offered a dynamic snapshot of some of the best contemporary practice from 19 artist teachers, all of whom were art teachers across the schools of Tower Hamlets.
Inspired by a collective passion to create a dialogue about their practice, the artists offered a mix of style and media including etchings, observational drawings, photography, digital prints, water-colour and mixed media collage. Collectively, they offered an immediate vibrancy that, regardless of the artistic medium, made you think about contemporary scenes and situations.
THAT – Half was a unique and rare moment to share the excitement of the Tower Hamlets Artist Teacher Network’s collective artistic talent.
Formed in 2013, THAT is an artist collective that encourages and supports artist teachers, working specifically in the Borough of Tower Hamlets, to revisit their art practice and develop artwork linked to a chosen area of research. Their aim is to exhibit and share good practice, investing time and effort to develop their own art practice to positively reach out and inspire young artists in their individual school communities.
THAT – Half ran from 26 April – 7 July 2017 at Gallery @ Half Moon
