500 people enjoy Half Moon’s Family Fun Day

Half Moon Theatre, Limehouse, welcomed 490 young people and adults to its recent Fun Palaces free family fun day, which saw the local community come together to celebrate arts and culture in an exciting day filled with a variety of free events with a theme to tackle climate change and protect nature, as part of the Great Big Green Week.

Throughout the day, which took place on Saturday 1 October from 10am-4pm, there were a range of free events for all ages, including pop-up storytelling, music and movement workshops, creepy-crawly craft, handprint creature art, the opportunity to plant a seed in an egg box, plus a gallery trail exploring our latest exhibition, Sad No More by Francesco Pellitta.

Fun Palaces is an annual, free, nationwide celebration of arts and culture, driven by localism, innovation and engagement, with a core passion to encourage communities to work together, create together, have fun together, and in doing so, build our own communities, from the grassroots up. It was the seventh time that Half Moon has
been involved.

Chris Elwell, Director of Half Moon, commented: “We were proud to be involved in Fun Palaces for a seventh year and were delighted with the passion and commitment of the local community to help make it such a memorable day. Fun Palaces is about coming together as a community to create and celebrate and I am thrilled we achieved this in such an enjoyable way. Arts, culture and sciences play an important role in all our lives and it was wonderful to see so many people, young and old, get involved and enjoy themselves.”
