We offer key sessions online and in-person throughout the year, delivered by theatre and drama professionals. We also create bespoke packages for schools keen to have sessions delivered in their settings for all their staff. If your school is interested in the delivery of any of our available CPD sessions at their own setting for a number of staff, please get in touch.
A limited number of spaces for teachers working outside Tower Hamlets are also available. Course fees for non-Tower Hamlets teachers are £90+VAT (full day) or £45+VAT (half day). Discounts available for PGCE students. Please contact us for further details.

CPD: Creative Approaches to Wellbeing
When: Thursday 27 February 9:30am-3pm
Who: All subject staff – KS2This course provides creative approaches to support positive mental health for participants to feel more optimistic about their futures and aid them to identify and support any of their peers. Half Moon will use drama as a tool to create engage participants in critical thinking and use drama techniques to explore wider issues impacting their lives, providing scenarios designed to stimulate audience participation through discussion, interactive role-playing, and shared experiences, effecting positive and constructive change.

CPD: Creative Strategies to Reengage Learners
When: Thursday 13 March 9:30am-3pm
Who: All subject staff – KS2 & KS3The course explores creative ways of building confidence and consistency in Learning. We will examine exercises that highlight the consequences of actions, the role of critical thinking and decision-making, and the impact of a negative reputation on self-esteem and motivation. Additionally, we will use drama techniques to explore and deepen the teacher-student relationship, fostering a better understanding of how these dynamics shape student engagement and growth.

CPD: Creative Approaches to Play for EYFS
When: Thursday 20 March 9:30am-3pm
Who: All subject staff – EYFSThis course will provide creative approaches to working with early years groups, including the planning and preparation of engaging creative play sessions. Participants will explore ways to build children’s imagination by taking them on playful journeys. The course will also discuss the links to child development, helping staff understand how creative play supports cognitive, emotional, and social growth. By the end of the day, participants will have collaboratively created a new session plan that integrates drama, music, and sensory engagement, ensuring an interactive and enjoyable experience for children.

Who: All subject staffThis course is for educators who want to bring creative and fresh ideas into teaching writing and poetry. It’s all about practical approaches and creative strategies that help you inspire students to connect with writing in exciting and meaningful ways, building their creative expression along the way. You’ll explore how to create a classroom where students feel encouraged to take risks, express themselves, and develop a love for language. The course also focuses on helping students build confidence in speaking and oracy, with activities designed to create a safe, supportive space where they feel free to share their creativity and discover their unique voices.

CPD: Understanding Design in Drama: Context and Impact
When: Thursday 19 June 9:30am-3:30pm
Who: Secondary School TeachersThis course will explore how design supports performance and enhances the audience’s experience by examining the key elements of stage design. Teachers will participate in hands-on workshop, where they will create a design based on a selected text. This workshop will allow participants to explore how set and costume work together to create a unified and engaging production. Teachers will examine how set design helps communicate the social and historical context of the play, contributing to the overall atmosphere and storytelling.

When: Tuesday 1 July 9:30am-12pm
Who: All subject staff KS1 & KS2This course offers a dynamic toolkit filled with engaging games, drama techniques, and storytelling activities, all designed to bring literacy and various subject matters to life through drama and creative learning methods to spark young learners’ imaginations. This CPD session equips teachers with the skills and confidence to incorporate drama into their classrooms. We will consider different ways in which teachers and children can be storytellers and how using drama and creative practice can make learning more accessible, inclusive, and engaging for all learners.
Teachers will leave with a toolkit of activities.
