Our PerformanceWorks Summer School, for young people with physical, sensory, and/or cognitive disabilities, took place from Monday 25 to Friday 29 July 2022.  This year, we welcomed members of our Solar Youth Theatre, as well as other young people from outside of our Youth Theatre group.

Five of our Youth Theatres brought the summer 2022 term to a close with some wonderful sharings in front of family and friends.

Jackie Eley, Half Moon’s Administrative Director, remembers her friend Marleen Vermeulen, who died on 4 July, six years after first being diagnosed with brain cancer. Half Moon worked with Marleen on three of her touring shows, which did an incredible 497 performances across the UK.

The night before I arrived at the Half Moon theatre for work experience, I was all sorts of nervous. What if I make a bad first impression? What if I say the wrong thing? What if they’re all really intimidating? And I couldn’t be more wrong.
