Half Moon begins to open

On Monday 3 August 2020, Half Moon began a phased re-opening of the building by delivering in-person activities for our Next Steps Youth Service transitions programme, as well as offering lunches as part of the Tower Hamlets’ Holiday Hunger programme.

We were able to do this by putting into place a rigorous and living risk assessment in response to published Covid-19 safety guidelines. These have been reviewed following the successful completion of the summer activity and will now inform how we are able to operate more fully when our youth, schools and community programme restarts from Monday 21 September 2020.

This date is also ear-marked for the resumption of our wide-range of artform development programmes that are seeding and developing the plays that will tour the UK once we are able to do so again.

Unfortunately, at present, all our performances, both at Half Moon and on tour, continue to be suspended, while some participatory activity and our gallery programme will continue to be delivered online until further notice.

Our COVID-19 prevention measures include the following:

For all activity at Half Moon we will:

  • Clean spaces and public areas including toilets in between all sessions / activity;
  • Implement guidance on how to move around the building supported by enhanced signage;
  • Provide antibacterial gel and enhanced handwashing facilities;
  • Maintain and promote social distance where possible;
  • Minimise the number of people coming in and out of the building;
  • Use temperature screening for those coming into the building;
  • Ensure that anyone with COVID-19 symptoms does not come to the building and follows government guidance regarding Test and Trace.

At Half Moon, we aim to be as safe as possible for everyone. With your support we are confident that our many participants and visitors can safely enjoy coming to Half Moon. We cannot stop COVID-19  but if we work together, we can minimise the risks.

Half Moon Theatre is a registered charity and ticket sales are one of our sources of funding. We recognise that this is a difficult time for many of us. However, if you are able to consider making a donation, it would be hugely appreciated.
